In addition, assessment tools for Grade 4 and 5 pupils will be made available from July 10 and scores will be uploaded on the portal by August 11.

The two grades will sit their written examinations of 11 subjects between October 2 and 26. Assessment of the Special Needs Education (SNE) Foundation level will be administered during the same period.

"Teachers will assess learners as they undertake the performance-based tasks and score using the guidelines provided in the tool," the circular read in part.

One of the instructions was that all tools with coloured images should be printed in colour and loaded on the digital services available in the schools.

Meanwhile, the Grade 7 students will be assessed on practicals, projects, and performance tasks between July 3 and August 11.
