A victim's family on Wednesday, April 26, questioned the role of controversial pastor Paul Mackenzie's wife in the Shakahola massacre.

Speaking on JKLive, Roseline Asena wondered about the type of message Mackenzie's wife taught to the women in the church after her sister-in-law and her children became staunch members of the congregation.

She wondered whether detectives had traced and questioned Mackenzie's wife in relation to the probe.

"I have seen the government having Office of the First Lady, Woman Representative. Pastor Mackenzie had a spouse. What was her role? Where is she? What was her role in that church? In any mission, that woman preached to the women of that church.

"I would like to know what is it that you preached to my sister-in-law and her children because they were members of your congregation. Is there somebody who knows what she is doing and what she is up to? We must not leave any stone unturned in this story," she noted.

In addition, she questioned whether Mackenzie enforced his beliefs on his children.

"Mackenzie had children. How old are they? Were they starved to death? Are they part of the children who were rescued? What were their roles in that particular church?"

"Are there any children who have been exhumed who are Mackenzie’s children? I would want to know. Have the authorities interrogated either the wife or the children," she indicated.

Asena further pleaded with the government to expedite investigations and trace her sister-in-law and her children as well as her brothers' three children.

The news came after Interior CS Kithure Kindiki ordered a 30-day dusk-to-dawn curfew in Shakahola Forest to allow the police to conclude security operations.

Government pathologists will on Thursday, April 27, conduct postmortem examinations on the exhumed bodies as the exercise continues to uncover the scores of congregants who fell victim to Mackenzie's teachings.

As of Wednesday, April 26, the death toll stood at 95 after the bodies of five children were exhumed near Mackenzie's home in the forest.
