Otiende Amollo, the Member of Parliament for Rarieda Constituency, claimed his life was in danger in a statement released on May 3.
The MP, an ally of Azimio La Umoja party leader, Raila Odinga, alleged that a Subaru closely trailed him.
Amollo described the Subaru as a blue car with the KBZ number plate series.
“So they’ve tasked shadowy operatives In M/V KBZ ****, blue Subaru, to eliminate me! A vehicle on the road but no records at NTSA, but it operates from Kabete police station!" The MP alleged that he tracked the car's details at the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to no avail.
“And they withdraw my security for the purpose! well, I’m not afraid. History Is replete with martyrs,” noted Amollo.
On May 2, Azimio La Umoja released a statement claiming that the security detail of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka was withdrawn.
They stated that their security personnel was part of the perks of their former offices as Prime Minister and Vice President, respectively.
The statement read by Narc-Kenya Party leader Martha Karua at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation in Nairobi castigated the government for disrupting their demonstrations.
"Ruto government has ordered the immediate withdrawal of security details of Raila Odinga, Martha Karua, and Kalonzo Musyoka together with those of other elected leaders in Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition," read the statement in part.
Police teargassed Azimio La Umoja members as they sought to deliver a petition to the President's Harambee House office in Nairobi CBD.
Raila also lamented the show of force by the police that reportedly led to their equipment being damaged.
"The police destroyed our media team's equipment as they lobbed teargas at a petrol station,"
