CCTV footage of a nightclub in Rongai revealed the last moments of a 23-year-old male before his disappearance.
The footage released on Thursday, May 11, showed the deceased, Emmanuel Omondi, in a scuffle with the security personnel at the club while being kicked out.
According to a police statement, the victim accompanied his friends to the nightclub, on March 31, to celebrate securing a job at a communications company.
However, at the club, Omondi fell from his seat, causing a commotion and forcing security to kick him out.
Nine days later, police discovered a body in the septic tank of the club, believed to be the 23-year-old.
However, despite his friends' identification of the body, his parents disputed that it was not their son.
Detectives were then sent to Eldoret to collect DNA samples from the victim's parents to determine the true identity of the body as it had already decomposed beyond recognition.
According to the father, the family believed their son was still alive and would return home.
“They have taken my DNA samples, and I allowed it because my wife has been unwell since she received the news and, therefore, could not avail herself,’ he stated.
15 suspects from the Rongai nightclub were arrested and released on a Ksh100,000 bond.
The suspects were directed to report to the police station daily until their arraignment.
Investigations into the cause of death and Omondi's identity are ongoing.
