Former Tahidi High actor and journalist Ferdinand Omondi on Tuesday, May 23, left the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), where he worked as a reporter.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Omondi indicated that he had parted ways with the London-based giant, ending his eight-year stint. He, however, did not reveal his next move.

"It is true I have left BBC with immediate effect. I have not yet decided my next move," he told Kenyans.co.ke.

In a different statement, Omondi indicated that the station had helped him to sharpen his journalistic skills and thrive. He also appreciated his colleagues who supported his dream, helping him hit different career milestones.

"Today, I close this wonderful chapter of my life at the BBC after 8 years. I have grown, I have learned, I have thrived," Omondi wrote.

"I leave with a grateful heart and fond memories. Storytelling is what I do best. And I'm excited for what the universe has next for me on my plate. My story continues," he insisted.

At the station, he covered various global topics, including African politics, regime shifts, emerging economic trends and even cases of insecurity.

In February 2022, BBC enhanced Omondi's role, where he served as a podcast producer for a show covering geopolitical issues in the continent.

Before venturing into journalism, Omondi starred in Tahidi High, portraying Mule- a charming and mischievous student in the TV show on Citizen TV.

He enjoyed acting before Citizen TV approached him to take up a role as a reporter.

"When I was confirmed at Citizen TV as a reporter, I was still acting at Tahidi High and there was a clash between Mule the character and myself as the media personality," he stated in a past interview.

"I did not want to leave Tahidi High, but there was an ultimatum, and I had to quit the show," he added.

Omondi went on to be a reporter at Citizen TV for three years before he was laid off in a restructuring at the station. NTV then hired him and designated him as a Coast region correspondent.

KTN News later poached him in the same capacity. In 2014, he joined the international media house.
