Jeff Mwathi's mother, Ann, on Tuesday, May 23 complained of being shortchanged by a local radio station a day after she was hosted for a joint interview with Lawrence Njuguna, alias DJ Fatxo

According to Mwathi's mother, the radio station failed to inform her that the entertainer would be on the show

She disclosed that she was called on the phone by representatives of the station at around 11 am on Monday, May 22, where she was asked about her son's death.

She noted that the call was recorded and then used to get a response from Fatxo who appeared for an interview later that day.

Jeff's mother - who appeared upset over the matter in a video recording- opined that she had desired to ask Fatxo questions regarding her son's mysterious death.

"I cannot say that you erred but you were wrong to ask me all those questions and fail to tell me that he (Fatxo) was there. You ought to have invited me when he was there so that he can answer my questions.

"You called me in the morning and I was not even aware that he would be coming to the studios. That is not good at all" she lamented.

During the Monday interview, the distraught mother maintained that the entertainer still needed to be investigated further despite being cleared by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).

She also accused DCI of foul play during the investigation process.

Fatxo, on the other hand, maintained his innocence as he gave an account of what transpired on the night of February 8.

Notably, the deejay broke down when listening to concerns that were raised by Jeff's mother.

"I woke up and took the three ladies and left Mwathi, my cousin and the driver. After dropping them off, I went to get breakfast. When I parked at Lumumba Drive at 5:00 am, I was quite high so I dozed off. What woke me up was the bright sun. It was 9:00 am.

"When I came back to the apartment, I found police officers and was informed by the watchman that someone had thrown himself off the 12th floor and I didn't suspect a thing as I stayed at the 10th floor apartment," he stated.

Fatxo's name was cleared on May 17, 2023, after the ODPP indicated that there was no evidence to tie the artist to the alleged murder.

According to the investigations undertaken by homicide detectives, they were inclined to believe that the 23-year-old died by suicide.
