Police officers based at the Kasarani Police Station were on Friday, June 2, granted permission by the Makadara Court to hold Michael Macharia alias DJ Brownskin for seven days pending investigations into his wife's death.

According to reports, the entertainer was arrested on June 1 at an entertainment for grilling over his wife's death which occurred on July 29, 2022.

Detectives from DCI indicated that the DJ had, on three occasions, failed to honour summons by the authorities investigating the matter.

The arrest came after a video recording allegedly taken by the DJ - which had surfaced on social media early in the year - captured his wife drinking poison.

Police are, therefore, investigating the entertainer over his involvement in the incident with police preferring that Brownskin be charged with aiding suicide.

In their application, the police sought the seven-day extension to recreate the scene of the crime and allow the entertainer to give his account of events.

According to the Penal Code Section 225 C, the DJ could face life imprisonment if the police prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

"Any person who procures another to kill himself; or counsels another to kill himself and thereby induces him to do so; or aids another in killing himself is guilty of a felony and is liable to imprisonment for life," reads the Penal Code.

However, the claims by the police that the entertainer failed to honour summons were denied by Brownskin's lawyer Elisha Ndemo

The lawyer stated that there was no evidence to prove that his client had been summoned by the police.

The video of Bownskin's wife emerged on the internet in April 2023.

While the DJ maintained silence over the incident, the entertainer celebrated his wife as a loving mother who cared for their two kids in his late wife's eulogy.

"She was not only my wife and the mother of my two children, but she was also a cheerful friendly person and made many friends as we can all witness today.

"Many questions run through my mind with no answers. Anyway, God knows best," he wrote in his tribute.
