Njugush, a popular Kenyan comedian and content creator, on Tuesday, June 20, cleared the air over a viral photo showing that he was featured on the cover of a high school chemistry book.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Njugush, whose real name is Timothy Kimani, explained that the photo was manipulated importing his likeness to the book's cover as part of a comical trend.

According to the comedian, the original photo was taken while he sat for his final Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) chemistry paper.

"Yes, it's me. The photo is real but the High School Chemistry cover page is not real," Njugush explained poking fun at the viral picture.

The comedian noted that the original photo was taken in 2009 when he attended a local High School in Nairobi City.

Njugush uploaded the photo to his social media pages where it was picked up by a graphic designer and manipulated.

As a way of creating a comical social brief, the designer then decided to edit the photo and put it on the cover of a chemistry set book, probably to hoodwink online audiences.

Njugush stated that he was surprised to see his photo on the cover of the book, but he was also amused by people's reactions.

"I didn't expect to become a chemistry icon but I am happy that this photo could help inspire students to learn chemistry," Njugush stated.

The book is titled Essential Chemistry for KCSE which is published by Longhorn Publishers.

It is designed to help students prepare for KCSE examinations and covers various topics ranging from basic concepts of chemistry, atomic structure, chemical bonding and the periodic table.

Other topics include Stoichiometry, chemical reactions, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical chemistry and physical chemistry.

"This story is a reminder that social media can be a powerful tool for self-expression and creativity. It's also a reminder that you never know where your photos might end up," he added.

Njugush is a popular comedian in the country whose work has been praised for its humor and social commentary. He is also a successful businessman running a production company that produced some of the most popular shows on TV.

In 2023, Njugush was named the favorite online content creator at the Kenya Film and TV Awards (KIFA). He was also nominated for the best actor in a TV series category at the same ceremony.
