A 26-year-old law graduate was reportedly abducted minutes after leaving a local petrol station in Sultan Hamud, Makueni County, on Saturday, July 1.

In a missing person's notice shared across social media, the graduate and his father were trailed by a white Toyota Hilux pickup that intercepted them at the filling station around 4:30 pm.

A scuffle ensued as the perpetrators removed the father from the car and abducted the lawyer before driving off in a split second.

During the abduction, the victim wore a cream shirt, navy blue official trousers and black Addidas shoes with white stripes on the side.

The abduction raised speculations about the crafty scheme plotted by the kidnappers, who allegedly orchestrated their plan within a short time span.

While calling for urgent intervention, Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Eric Theuri implored police officers to employ all available resources to locate the missing graduate.

"Hope this young man is found safe and sound, and may this not be a resumption of the culture of disappearance," Theuri prayed.

The poster was extensively circulated among numerous Kenyans online, with a collective plea urging anyone privy to the victim's whereabouts to come forward and help the police to locate and retrieve him.

Police officers have yet to release a statement over the alleged abduction.

In other news, the body of former Treasury official Tom Osinde was found in River Kuja in Migori - two weeks after his family filed a missing persons report.

Post-mortem revealed that Osinde's body had severe injuries on his head and other body parts, depicting signs of torture.

The incident raised concerns about the return of mysterious disappearances and probable deaths, which turn into cold cases.

The latest data by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) indicated that the crime rate in the country increased from 81,272 cases in 2021 to 88,083 in 2022.
