Since assuming office on September 13, 2022, President William Ruto has secured visa-free travel deals for Kenyans in four countries, with the latest being Congo-Brazzaville.
Other countries Kenyans can visit without visas include Djibouti, Comoros, and South Africa.
Ruto has occasionally maintained that the visa-free deals will improve trade and also enable Kenyans to visit some of the most iconic sites in the respective countries.
Djibouti
Located in the Horn of Africa and bordering Somalia, Djibouti is known for some of the most iconic sites, such as Lake Assal, one of the most popular salty water lakes in the world.
Other tourist attraction sites include Day Forest National Park, which provides the scenery for exotic trees and animals such as hunter’s antelope and baboons.
According to tourists, the average cost needed for tourists for ranges from Ksh 40,000 to Ksh80,000 depending on the type of accommodation.
Comoros
On July 6, Ruto with his Comoros counterpart Azali Assoumani, announced visa-free travel for their citizens.
The country located off the coast of East Africa is known for its beaches, given that it is an island. The country is also known for its clear water, which enables tourists to engage in diving.
Other tourism activities in the country include hiking and cultural heritage visits due to its rich culture.
South Africa
Located down south, Kenyans can get the experience of Table Mountain and surf at Jeffrey's Bay visa-free following the visa deal agreed between Ruto and Cyril Ramaphosa in November 2022.
Other iconic sites include Kruger National Park and Robben Island where the country's founding president, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned.
Kenyans flying to South Africa spend between Ksh80,000 - Ksh95,000 for one way.
The Republic of the Congo.
The country is known for seeing gorillas with popular sites, including ouabalé-Ndoki National Park and the Lesio Louna Gorilla Reserve.
Beaches of Pointe-Noire are also common in the country, which is close slightly over 2,000 kilometres from Kenya. Flights from Kenya range between Ksh35,000 - Ksh50,000, depending on the airline.
Driving through Uganda Rwanda, and DRC is estimated to take between 3 days, with the cost being between Ksh40,000 to Ksh60,000.
