A viral video showing a woman physically assaulting a female security guard at her residence in Nyayo Estate, Nairobi elicited debate among Kenyans on Wednesday.
In the video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the woman is seen aggressively pushing and attacking the guard in front of bystanders.
The video depicted a woman initially launching an attack on the security guard, restraining her against the wall of a house. Subsequently, she continued with the assault after the guard fell to the ground.
Although the exact reason for the altercation is still unknown, speculation was rife that it may have stemmed from domestic issues.
In the video that has ignited outrage among many Kenyans, the enraged woman can also be seen pushing a man who had apparently approached to assist the guard.
The woman's anger is palpable as she questions the guard about her intentions.
She expresses her frustration, claiming she has tolerated the guard long enough, further accusing her of getting involved in her private affairs.
“For how long have I tolerated you, do you know me?” exclaimed the woman.
After the video was shared online, Kenyans waded into the discussion almost immediately, with most questioning the circumstances that had led to the situation.
“Well, it starts with the crowd that is watching and some filming. How is this even possible? The guard is in uniform, those could be neighbours. So are they watching their guard being beaten up? What happened to their social responsibility as citizens? They also enabled this and should also face consequences. The guard could die from such,” one social media user commented.
“Very sad. Even if the security guard was the messenger, she never deserves to be beaten as the rest of the residents watch. I hope the company she is working for will follow up on the matter urgently,’ another social media user stated.
Following the scuffle, a number of Kenyans called for the woman depicted in the video to be arrested for assaulting the guard.
