“Africa Inland Church, Gusii Area will not accept responsibility for any transactions undertaken by him,” members of the public were warned.

The Church did not indicate why the pastors had been suspended nor the length of the suspension.

AIC is one of the oldest churches in the country having been founded in 1895 through the Africa Inland Mission (AIM).

The Church first set its base in Kangundo, Machakos County but later moved its headquarters to Kijabe, Kiambu County in 1903 and is currently headed by Bishop Abraham Mulwa.

“AIC distinguishes itself as a prominent and powerful ecclesiastical unit which ranks numerically among the five largest denominations in the country,” a statement on its history reads in part.

According to AIM, there are over 5,000 AIC churches across the country with hundreds of thousands of worshippers.

“The AIC Kenya is independent, self-governing and continuing to grow,” AIM states.

Apart from preaching the gospel, AIC takes part in other kinds of ministry which include medical, teaching, theological education, and children’s work.
