Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria on Sunday refuted claims that there was disagreement between him and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi over the locations of their respective offices.
The government had previously allocated Mudavadi the Railways buildings as his new office. However, the building remains under renovation with reports indicating that the former Deputy Prime Minister has been operating from Treasury buildings pending completion.
However, following President William Ruto's decision to assign him extra duties as Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary, speculation was also rife that the former Deputy Prime Minister would move to the Old Treasury Buildings along Harambee Avenue.
Conversely, following changes made by Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff Felix Koskei following the recent cabinet reshuffle, it was expected that CS Moses Kuria would also be moved to the Railways buildings.
As such, a local media station reported that the lack of clarity in the assigned offices had led to friction between Mudavadi and Kuria, claims which the latter has now dismissed.
“The Prime Cabinet Secretary will continue operating from Railways Headquarters and myself from Harambee House,” Kuria stated noting that he enjoys a cordial working relationship with Musalia.
The CS denied that his Ministry has been relocated to the Railways Buildings.
Kuria added that the Performance and Delivery Management Principal Secretary Veronicah Nduva would also be situated at Harambee House.
The former Trade CS explained that the rationale behind this is to ensure that the PS is able to monitor delivery across government and enforce performance contracts.
Kuria’s statement echoed an earlier one issued by the Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary which denied that Mudavadi would be moving to Harambee Avenue.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs remains at the Railways Headquarters,” the statement read in parts
Before moving to the Old Treasury Building, Moses Kuria was based at Two Rivers Mall in Ruaka where he executed his mandate as Trade CS.
After the October 4, cabinet reshuffle, the Trade Ministry was reassigned back to the National Social Security Fund buildings where it had been previously domiciled.
The Office of Prime Cabinet Secretary had earlier told Kenyans.co.ke that Musalia was yet to take over the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This was due to the fact that Mudavadi had been out of the country on official duty as Prime CS.
