The family of one Joseph Wakang'u Ng'angara, 21, is calling for justice to be served after their son was killed along Kiambu Road on Sunday, October 8.

According to Simon Mwangi, an activist, who shared details about the incident on Monday, the victim was involved in a scuffle that occurred at a petrol station while in the company of his friend.

However, it was not immediately clear what caused the confrontation.

Per Mwangi's account of events, the victim was involved in a fight with an unidentified person who is now the prime suspect in the case.

During the confrontation, petrol station attendants and boda boda riders attempted to separate the group but the efforts were futile.

Despite Wakang'u being unarmed, the suspect hit the deceased several times on the head with a blunt object and a bottle which caused him to fall down.

According to the activist's account, the hit was so severe that it led to a brain hemorrhage.

CCTV footage obtained by Kenyans.co.ke shows that the deceased was hit while attempting to defend his friend who was attacked by the suspect.

When calm was restored, the duo proceeded to Kiambu Police Station to file a report and record statements.

Wakang'u was later taken to the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital where he received treatment before being discharged.

Unfortunately, later that day he was found dead on his bed with post-mortem results indicating he died after sustaining blunt force trauma to the head.

Following the tragic incident, his family has appealed to members of the public to share details of the suspect whose photos are circulating online.

Friends and family have asked the relevant authorities to intervene and ensure the culprit is brought to justice and no more lives are lost.

"To anyone harboring him, I urge you to consider the gravity of the situation and encourage him to surrender to the authorities. Justice awaits, and the memory of Joe Wakang'u deserves no less," Mwangi wrote.

A section of Kenyans has condemned the senseless killings occurring in the country, especially among the youth.

They have called for the Ministry of Interior, the National Police Service, and the Judiciary to ensure the culprits in such cases face the full force of the law.

Further, they urged hospitals to be keen when attending to patients by offering the necessary treatment and preventing early deaths.
