CCTV cameras on Saturday captured a motorist fleeing from a petrol station in Buru Buru after ordering Ksh8,000 worth of fuel.

According to reports, immediately after the petrol station attendant finished fueling the vehicle, the motorist sped off to avoid paying the bill.

Following the incident, the fuel attendant reported the matter at Buru Buru Police Station.

The incident has angered a section of Kenyans who have condemned such behavior, especially during such tough economic times.

"It's the end of the month and the money will be deducted from the fuel attendant's salary, this is so sad," one person stated.

Kenyans argued that with the increasing fuel cost, motorists should not go rogue and should be mindful of other people's livelihoods.

They urged the driver to pay the amount owed to the petrol station in full before the matter is escalated.

Some suggested that the culprit should be made to pay more if caught which they argued will deter other motorists from similar behaviour.

"This should be considered robbery of the highest level and the suspect should pay double for emotional torture caused to the attendant," one suggested.

Kenyans were also puzzled by the irony in the driver's behavior and the inscription on his vehicle, 'God's Grace'.

Others suggested that petrol stations should introduce a pay-first policy to avoid such cases that have been on the rise of late.

Petrol stations were also urged to improve customer service at their outlets especially ensuring that the queues are orderly. Sometimes, a driver is forced to drive out before the payment is confirmed.

The establishments were also asked to install barriers at the exit to prevent the drivers from speeding off.
