An employee at a local petrol station was robbed at gunpoint by a motorist pretending to fuel.
The incident captured on CCTV showed the employee fueling the vehicle before the two suspects alighted the car while armed.
They then attacked and manhandled the employee, pushing him to lie flat on the ground and subsequently kicked him in the stomach and also stamped on his back.
Afterward, the suspects ransacked his pockets, stealing whatever they could find before fleeing the scene.
After the saloon car sped off, the employee stayed on the floor for several minutes before he slowly got up and walked away, clearly still shaken and terrified by the incident.
From the surroundings, it was evident that the employee was working the night shift, as he was the only person present in the vicinity.
A second employee, however, appeared and opened the store door for the victim.
This incident has been condemned by a section of Kenyans who voiced concerns that the employee may be compelled to repay the money that was stolen.
Others were relieved that the gunmen did not shoot the employee as witnessed in other similar cases.
However, some suggested that the car may have been hijacked and used to commit robberies at several business establishments in the area.
"When working at a petrol station at night, it's better to separate the money earned and only leave a few notes on you," one suggested.
Police have yet to release a statement on the incident. It was also unclear whether the employee and the petrol station filed a report with investigative agencies.
