A teacher was forced to take off his trousers to cross an overflowing river to deliver the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

In a 30-second footage, the man was seen covering the papers with his trousers.

The teacher walked through the overflowing river with the water reaching up his thighs.

He managed to get to the other side drenched even as experts warned that heavy rainfall would persist.

This was one of the challenges teachers are facing in the ongoing national exams as heavy rainfall continues across the country.

"It's sad seeing teachers crossing rivers to deliver papers to their stations. KNEC can do better than this to prevent the educators from such risks," one person suggested.

In the video, other people in the background were directing him how to cross.

"If he manages this you will go after him," one person was heard saying.

They also urged the teacher to show the papers as a way to encourage the relevant authorities to intervene and help teachers in such situations.

In Homa Bay County, examiners were forced to use a cane tractor to deliver exam papers after a river burst its banks.

River Oyombe made it impossible for vehicles to use the road and disrupted transport.

The national exams run till the end of November.
