Officers drawn from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), on Tuesday night, arrested a 27-year-old man accused of hacking to death his brother's wife and kids at Mesaria village in Kisii County.

According to a report by the DCI, the area security forces were mobilised and immediately launched a manhunt for the man wanted for the death of his in-law and the kids aged three and four.

After hours of search, police officers were able to hunt down the suspected murderer before he could flee the region.

"The suspect who ran into hiding after the homicide was nabbed last night, hours after the Tuesday 14th incident within Kegogi location in Marani sub-county, Kisii," read part of a statement by DCI.

According to the detectives, the suspect was involved in a heated altercation with his brother over an unestablished issue.

"In an abominable resolve to settle scores, he sneaked into the brother's house wielding a machete, cold-bloodedly slaying the helpless trio to the horror and condemnation of the neighbourhood," DCI added.

After committing the heinous act, the suspect ran into hiding without notice, prompting the area police officers to hunt him down.

Meanwhile, the deceased bodies were taken to the Kisii Referral Hospital mortuary, with the suspect placed under police custody awaiting arraignment in court.

Early this month, a middle-aged man murdered man was also accused of murdering his ex-girlfriend in cold blood

Lucy Boke, a first-year student at the Kisii National Polytechnic, was found dead inside her house, lying in a pool of blood. Police stated that they found her bearing knife wounds on the chest and lower abdomen.

The murder suspect was alleged to have travelled all the way from Kuria in Migori County to the girl's house in Kisii, where he perpetrated the atrocity.
