Kiharu MP and President William Ruto’s ally Ndindi Nyoro on Sunday rubbished parts of the final report submitted by the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO).

Speaking at St Andrew's Old Stadium ACK Church in Embu town, the Kiharu MP noted that some of the issues proposed will require a referendum, which will affect the economic stability of the nation.

Nyoro cited that the country's economy in its current fragile state cannot accommodate some of the proposals.

“Some of the issues they have proposed to be actualised, they need a referendum and we cannot subject Kenya to a contest," Nyoro stated.

The businessman also highlighted the need for the country to move on from the conversation of which leader should occupy which office, and instead respect the democratic rights of Kenyans who voted.

“Kenya is a democratic country, we can no longer continue to discuss about which leader will occupy which position," he added.

Interestingly, this comes after President William Ruto during a service at the Fellowship Priesthood in Kahawa West on Sunday embraced the NADCO report's recommendations, urging relevant players to collaborate and actualize the proposals tabled.

“They have given recommendations all those recommendations are okay. It is now up to you MPs to debate on the issue and get done with it so as to continue working together without hate and division,” Ruto stated.

The committee co-chaired by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung'wah on the tail-end of last week tabled its final report which bears several recommendations geared at ensuring political stability in the country.

NADCO recommended restructuring of the IEBC, evaluation of the 2022 electoral process, and establishment of the offices of the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Official Opposition.

Major political leaders including NARC Party leader Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa disowned the report, claiming that the issue of lowering the cost of living was not addressed properly.

“I didn’t and will not append my signature to the NADCO report and have not and will not accept any sitting allowance for the same because I believe we did not do justice to the single most important issue to Kenyans; the cost of living,” Eugene Wamalwa said in a statement.

In the report, the committee failed to agree on lowering the fuel VAT from 16% to 8% and to scrap off the housing levy.
