Busia Police Officer Killed While Manning Road Block in Teso

A police officer attached to Amagoro Police Base in Busia County was on Sunday, December 10 killed in a hit-and-run incident at the Koteko Road block area on the Malaba - Bungoma Road.

Per a police report seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the female police officer was manning the Koteko Road Block along the busy road at around 9:00 pm when the incident occurred.

According to the police report, the officer was hit by a speeding motor vehicle being driven from Malaba towards the Bungoma direction.

It was also revealed that the vehicle never stopped and fled the scene as soon as the incident happened.

The officer sustained fatal head injuries and was rushed to the Teso North Sub County Hospital for treatment. 

However, she succumbed to the injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The body has since been transferred to Bungoma County Hospital mortuary and is awaiting autopsy.

The driver of the vehicle is yet to be arrested, and the police have launched a manhunt for the vehicle and the driver. 

In efforts to aid, investigations, the police have also confirmed photographing and marking the scene of the accident. 

This accident is among the rising cases of traffic police officers killed in the line of duty by motorists. 

On July 13th this year, another police officer was crushed to death along Outer-Ring Nairobi by a lorry.

In another incident in February 2023, witnessed in Mombasa County, a motorist drove away with a traffic police officer’s hand lodged in their vehicle dragging them to death.
