Update: The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced a service disruption on the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) portal.

The Authority, however, noted that the ICT team was working to restore the portal to normalcy.

"We are experiencing system downtime at the moment but ICT is working on restoring it. We apologize for inconvenience caused," NTSA stated.

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) will shut down the Transport Integrated Management System (TIMS) for three days to facilitate a smooth transition on the eCitizen platform.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, the Authority noted that the portal would be closed from Friday, December 29, 2023 (midnight) to Monday, January 1, 2024 (midnight) to limit transactions on all NTSA services.

During this period, all NTSA online services will be integrated into the eCitizen platform in preparation for January 2, 2024.

The shift, according to NTSA, is in line with President William Ruto's directive for all government services to be accessed on a uniform platform.

"From January 2, 2024, only eCitizen login credentials shall be used to access NTSA services," the notice read in part.

Pending Transactions

In compliance with the directive, NTSA instructed motorists to complete pending transactions on the TIMS portal by Friday, December 15, 2023, ahead of the integration of all services on the eCitizen platform.

"All clients with pending transactions on the TIMS platform are therefore required to complete their Friday, December 15, 2023, to avoid any inconveniences," NTSA noted.

Validate Their Accounts

NTSA also instructed all users to validate their eCitizen Accounts to ensure that they can access the platform. These users include motor vehicle owners, financial institutions, insurance companies, motorcycle dealers, companies, embassies, missions, departments, and agencies, among other entities.

"In undertaking the validation process, the Authority requires persons assigned to transact on behalf of organisations to login to their eCitizen account and to add the specific organisations using the KRA pin number. This is a critical exercise to ensure access to all NTSA services within the platform," NTSA stated.

To facilitate a smooth transition, the Authority would conduct virtual training sessions between December 18 to December 22 to familiarise the users with how they can access the services on the eCitizen platform.

"NTSA is committed to delivering quality services to the public during this transition period."
