Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers, on Wednesday, unearthed stolen government fertilisers at the Grace Covenant Church in Narok.
In an operation conducted by the sleuths, 252 bags of President William Ruto's subsidised fertiliser and other property were recovered.
According to the police, a farm manager of a Kericho-based businessman was the custodian of the fertiliser that was kept under lock and key at the church.
It was noted that the farm manager was arrested and arraigned at the Milimani Law Court, waiting to be charged with possession of stolen property.
"The arraigned suspect was released on a Ksh500,000 cash bail pending the 1st hearing of the case on Friday, January 5, 2024," read the statement in part.
Police are yet to establish whether the farm hand's employer was also involved in the heist.
Meanwhile, the police are still pursuing a second suspect who is believed to have supplied the stolen fertiliser.
While Police are yet to establish the exact location where the fertiliser was stolen from, the second suspect is reported to be a serial dealer operating within the North Rift region.
DCI added that the man had, on previous occasions, had run-ins with the police over similar offences.
On the other hand, investigations are also ongoing to investigate how the fertiliser was stored at the church and whether it was destined for the market.
At the time of publication, it was not yet clear whether the church officials were involved in the matter.
