Kenya Power Reports Disruption to 3 Major Supply Lines in Nairobi

Kenya Power on Sunday, January 7, announced that the transmission company had lost main power lines serving Kiambu and Nairobi Counties. 

In a statement, Kenya Power announced that the supply line serving Fedha Estate, Tel Aviv, Tassia and the environs was off with technicians working to restore power in the area. 

Additionally, a power line serving Kiambu County was also affected in the Sunday morning outage. 

“Supply line serving Kwihota, Kihunguro, Murera, Ruiru, Gatongora, Kilimambogo, Kamakis, Mitikeda Ruiru, Karuguru near Eden academy and environs is off. We are on it,” the power transmission company stated.

Additionally, a third supply line was reported in Kinoo and Uthiru regions. 

The areas affected in the third supply line include; Ndumbuini, Kanyariri, Kabete Vetlab, Uthiru, and Kinoo. 

Other estates include; Kwa Mugo Njathaini, Uthiru 87, Gakobu and its environs. 

This was in addition to a 7-hour blackout that had been scheduled in Thika Town. 

Kenya Power on Saturday, January 6, announced that due to scheduled maintenance, most of Thika Town would experience a blackout between 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

This includes areas in Starehe, Biafra, Thika High School, Munene Industries, Bishop Okoye, Kimathi, Pilot, and Thika Cloth Mills. 

Other areas in Kenya which will experience power disruptions on Sunday include Kalemngorok Centre in Turkana County. 

Kenya Power announced that this was also necessitated by scheduled maintenance in the area.
