The naked body of an unidentified woman was on Saturday found dumped in a river in Kasarani, Nairobi County.

According to a police report, the lady's body was found stashed in a sack with her arms and legs tied up.

She had stab wounds on her neck believed to have been inflicted before she was tossed into the river flowing through Lucky Summer.

Police first retrieved the sack that first appeared to be dumped luggage only to discover the lifeless body of the woman. Her body was transported to the City Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem.

Additionally, the detectives took her fingerprints to help with the identification process.

Police have called upon Kenyans with any information on the incident to present themselves at the local police station.

Families missing their kin were also advised to visit the City Mortuary to help identify the victim.

Meanwhile, investigations are ongoing as this incident becomes among the numerous mysterious murders reported in Kasarani.

In 2023, various murder cases reported in Kasarani raised concerns as a section of Kenyans accused police officers in the area of covering up some of the incidents.

The murder of interior designer Jeff Mwathi made headlines as family and friends demanded justice. Several other deaths were reported in the region which were attributed to suicide and murder.

The increasing crime rate in the area led to Inspector Japhet Koome issuing a statement, revealing that investigations were underway.

"When anyone dies, we identify it as sudden death under the Criminal Procedure Code. The police then start an inquiry to determine whether it is murder or suicide," he stated in March 2023.

Koome further revealed that any police officer found guilty of covering up any incident would be charged.
