The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has extended the placement application deadline to February 26, 2024.

KUCPPS settled on the date to offer parents and stakeholders ample time to apply for courses after they witnessed challenges in accessing the portal.

“The deadline for the ongoing placement application has been extended to February 26, 2024,” KUCCPS announced on Friday, February 16.

Reassuring impatient parents and students, the CEO stated that everyone seeking opportunities will be placed in institutions of higher learning.

"I take this opportunity to assure all those seeking training opportunities through the KUCCPS portal that no one will be left behind,” KUCCPS CEO Dr. Agnes Mercy Wahome stated.

Parents and students, however, blamed the ‘broken’ system for the delays witnessed in sending in applications, highlighting various errors appearing on several application stages.

“Error: Please wait for the payment to reflect to complete the application,” the site read after payment was done, halting the process temporarily," one user complained.

“But this extension will be useless if the system does not improve, imagine trying to apply one application for the last few days without success,” the user added.

Responding to concerns from parents regarding the functionality of the site, the KUCCPS CEO on Tuesday, February 13, explained that the system jammed due to an influx of applications from students.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, CEO Wahome stated that KUCCPS would continue to monitor the system's performance after they were forced to redirect the traffic to ease congestion on the site.

KUCCPS further boosted the hope of candidates who scored mean grade E in the 2023 KCSE examinations, after announcing several government-sponsored courses registered through the body.

The courses were divided into Business, Building and Construction, Engineering and Technology, Food Science, Social Sciences, Information Technology, Hospital, Hotel and Tourism, and Clothing, Fashion and Textile.
