Kenyans have come together to support Simon Mwangi, a 50-year-old man from Murang'a, who was abandoned by his wife, by building him a new house.

Simon, who had been living in an abandoned shack for several years, managed to start afresh after the community rallied behind him. With the help of donations, he was able to replace his makeshift shelter with a new house made of iron sheets.

Facing harsh living conditions and financial struggles, Mwangi's wife left him, as the situation seemed bleak with no apparent prospects for improvement.

Left alone with no kid, Mwangi resorted to building a makeshift house, cooking outside and supporting the roof using polythene bags during rainy seasons.

After sharing his life story and struggles in an interview with two YouTubers, Mwangi's plight deeply resonated with many Kenyans, prompting them to come together and offer assistance.

As Mwangi received the keys to his new house, which was a result of the collective contributions, residents from the neighbourhood joined in the celebration of his new milestone.

The occasion was filled with joy and vibrancy, with Mwangi proudly standing in front of his new two-roomed blue-coloured house, adorned in a matching blue suit symbolizing his journey towards betterment.

Mwangi, overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift, couldn't contain his joy. He was captured in various photos, beaming with happiness as he cut the ribbon and admired his new house.

Despite the generosity, the funds raised were insufficient to purchase household essentials and install toilets in the new home.

Consequently, on January 31, a homeless man took social media by storm after declining a home and cash offer.

This was after activities, Dennis Mbugua paid him a visit under a tunnel in Pangani along Thika Road, only to be served with a hesitant no to his kind gesture.

The man, identifying himself as Mutoko, resolved to live under the busy highway tunnel as he turned the offer away.
