The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced extended operation hours to hasten the issuance of uncollected logbooks, number plates, and smart Driving Licences (DLs).
In a statement dated Thursday, February 29, NTSA disclosed that its offices nationwide will open on Saturday, March 2, to facilitate these services.
The offices will be open from 8 am to 1 pm.
NTSA noted that it made the decision owing to the increasing number of uncollected items.
"We note an increase in service applications and the Authority has produced the outputs within record time. As a result, we currently have thousands of uncollected Logbooks, Number Plates and Smart DLs.
"We urge our esteemed clients who have received SMS notifications to visit the NTSA office identified during the application process and collect Number Plates, Logbooks, and Smart DLs," the statement emphasized.
Kenyans with items ready for collection were advised to bring the requisite documentation on Saturday.
For instance, those picking their Logbooks have to present their previous Logbooks and an original ID.
Issuance of new generation plates will require applicants to present both old number plates and an original ID. Those picking their smart DLs only have to present their original IDs.
"The move to reengineer our business processes and the development and adoption of a one-stop shop for all NTSA services has enhanced service quality, empowered our esteemed clients and streamlined back-office processes.
"This has positively impacted our turnaround time and further improved our interaction and communication with our clients. The system now provides real-time service status and SMS notifications are sent out upon approval and processing of various service outputs," NTSA stated.
According to NTSA, number plates are processed in 7 working days while smart DLs take 5 working days to be processed.
Logbooks on the other hand take 3 days to be processed.
