It is no secret that football enthusiasts are passionate about their favourite teams.

This past weekend, all eyes were on the Manchester Derby as the Red Devils clashed with their rivals Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium which ended in a 3-1 scoreline in favour of the champions.

As Manchester City fans celebrated and Manchester United supporters faced yet another humiliation, a man in Kawangware, Nairobi, found himself on the receiving end of an assault by a woman.

According to a police report obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the duo engaged in a confrontation during the first-half when Manchester United had taken an early lead after Marcus Rashford scored a screamer to give the visitors the lead.

The confrontation escalated into a brawl with the woman overpowering the man and striking him with a piece of sharp granite stone on the forehead, causing severe bleeding.

The police report, however, did not indicate whether the two knew each other prior to the confrontation.

Locals at the scene managed to separate the duo and rushed the victim to Sudi Medical Clinic where he received first aid.  He was subsequently referred to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for specialised treatment.

Police officers attached to Muthangari Police Station were quickly dispatched to the scene to restore order.

The officers documented the scene and interviewed the locals to establish what happened.

Preliminary investigations established that the duo differed over the results of the game after the first 45 minutes.

Kenyans are known for their avid support of the Premier League, with scores of Kenyans keenly following their favourite teams.

The incident mirrors another situation in September 2023 when a Manchester United fan was rushed to hospital after attempting to ingest a tray of boiled eggs following his team's loss to Arsenal.

Reports indicated that the fan had placed a bet with his friends that the loser would consume the boiled eggs at once.

While trying to keep his word, the fan collapsed when trying to take the 15th egg. His friends subsequently rushed him to a local hospital where he was diagnosed with constipation.
