Israel Osagie, a Nigerian who works for the US Army, on Tuesday, heaped praises on Kenyans for being welcoming and their general warm nature following his experience at the hands of some while he has been on a mission in the country.
Osagie is part of the Justified Accord (JA24), a multinational military mission that has been training in Nanyuki for the last one week after being hosted by the Kenyan military.
While commenting on Kenya, Osagie stated that he enjoyed being part of the mission and was inspired to do more by the Kenyan Spirit.
“For me, it's coming back to give back to home. When I landed in Kenya and I saw the locals, I was inspired to do more,” explained Osagie.
Further in his high regard for the country, the soldier narrated that Kenyans embraced and viewed him as part of the culture despite him having the U.S Army Uniform
‘Seeing me in my U.S. Army uniform and trying to recognise me as being one of theirs, has been very welcoming and heartwarming,” noted Osiage.
Additionally, he appreciated his stay within the country stating “I appreciate everything Kenya has offered us, including their rich culture.”
Osagie has been with the U.S. Army since 2021 where he serves as a practical nursing specialist with the 425th Medical Detachment, 176th Medical Brigade, and 807th Medical Command.
The Justified Accord24 (JA24), mission which is considered the largest operation of its kind in East Africa is being held in Kenya and brings together 1,000 service men and 23 nations led by the U.S Army.
According to the US, the mission not only provides a chance for the soldiers to exchange ideas and training skills between militaries but also a chance to interact with locals.
The soldiers engaged in community service including; offering medical services as part of the mission itinerary.
However, the mission which started on February 26 is expected to come to an end on Thursday, March 7.
