A family in Ikolomani, Kakamega, has raised concerns regarding the perplexing death of their son, allegedly due to assault by a Nyumba Kumi official.
According to information provided by the family, the 15-year-old boy passed away from injuries sustained following discipline administered by the official, after his visit to his girlfriend.
The boy's father explained that his son was sent to purchase an evening meal but was reportedly spotted at his girlfriend's residence.
The Nyumba Kumi officials are said to have punished the boy and later called the father to pick him up after he was severely injured.
“I received a call from a person stating that he is the Chairperson of Musingu Nyumba Kumi, and he told me to go find them in Musingu,” explained the father
He further narrated that upon arrival at the said location, he found the boy having been forced to kneel and the Nyumba Kumi official holding him by the collar, stick in hand.
Furthering the narrative, the father explained that a lady who identified herself as the girl’s mother had called upon the community leaders to discipline the boy.
In an unravelling twist, it is reported that the boy developed complications after spending the night and was rushed to a nearby health centre.
According to the family, the boy was unable to open his eyes at the time of being rushed to the hospital.
Notably, the father is claiming that his son did not have any health problems before the beating of the student.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident and are awaiting autopsy results to ascertain the cause of death.
Meanwhile, the family is actively seeking justice for their son, emphasizing that the enigmatic circumstances surrounding his demise constitute a grave injustice.
This comes after a puzzling incident of the death of a high school student who was allegedly killed by his peers after attending a funeral wake.
