School Clarifies Student's Cause of Death Amid Uproar Over Learners' Safety

The Board of Management for Kilungu Boys High School has confirmed that a student who passed away 11 days after their admission at the school succumbed to an infection.

According to the Chairperson of the Board of Management, the autopsy reports reveal that the boy was not injured or bullied as previously alleged.

Kennedy Malinda, the Chairperson of the Board of Management stated, “The postmortem was done this afternoon at Chiromo Mortuary by the Government pathologist in the presence of all interested parties. The results indicated that it was a natural death caused by an infection.”

He also confirmed that the autopsy was conducted in the presence of all the interested parties in the case.

The boy, who was admitted to the school passed away eleven days after admission which fuelled speculation of alleged bullying.

According to previous allegations, the boy had marks on his forehead, which were speculated to be a result of injuries from bullying.

However, the bullying claims were in contradiction to reports issued by the school where the school indicated that the boy fell ill on January 25, after complaining of stomach upsets.

Further, the principal elaborated that when he was rushed to the hospital, he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Details from the school also stated that the boy was rushed to the hospital accompanied by two teachers which is 800 metres away from the school.

However, the incident that has caused an uproar, with parents demanding justice as the 9– year old passed away in unclear circumstances. 

According to reports, the 9-year-old pupil drowned in a swimming pool and passed away during swimming lessons.

Further, it is alleged that the pupil went missing and was only discovered after her fellow pupils reported to class.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing, amidst questions of the children’s safety while in learning institutions.
