Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki announced on Friday, March 8, regarding the immediate transfer of all police officers who have served at one station for more than three years.

During a security briefing in Murang’a County, the CS highlighted that the initiative was intended to mitigate conflicts of interest.

Kindiki further explained that the directive would not only prevent internal sabotage but also improve service delivery within the security sector.

“The 3-year transfer policy must apply mandatorily for all Police Officers Countrywide,” Kimdki stated.

Kindiki further directed the police bosses countrywide to ensure strict enforcement of security policy and operational guidelines.

This, the CS stated was to ensure that the guidelines issued by the govt in eradication of poisonous and toxic substances are fully implemented.

Meanwhile, the CS also commented on the ongoing crackdown on illicit liquor across the country, Kindiki stated that the nationwide crackdown was a timeless operation that will be conducted until the menace is conclusively dealt with.

"Unlike past operations that were hampered by competing political and commercial interests, the ongoing exercise is a security operation to tackle a national threat and is devoid of politics," the CS remarked.

The police transfer directive comes a week after the CS issued a stern warning to police officers collaborating with criminals for personal gain.

Kindki while issuing a warning alert noted officers found culpable of collaborating with criminals would be fired and prosecuted and not transferred to other stations as has been the norm.

The CS similarly lauded police officers who put hard work and dedication into dealing with bandits in the bandit-prone areas.

"I appreciate the effort of many of our security officers in areas that have for years faced the challenge of banditry and livestock theft. You are working in difficult and risky terrains, and your sacrifice is invaluable," the CS noted.
