Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen broke his silence on Saturday, March 9, after being involved in a helicopter accident.
Taking to his X account, the CS assured Kenyans that he was safe despite the chopper he had boarded developing a technical hitch.
"Arrived safely in Nyatike with the Chairman Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) to condole with our KAA Managing Director Henry Ogoye who lost his loving mother," Murkomen stated.
"Earlier on, we had a small mishap, and we thank God we are safe. Thank you all for your concerns, prayers, and best wishes. God bless you," he added.
The chopper is reported to have crashed back to the ground with all occupants on board while attempting to take off.
In the photos of the tragedy that have since circulated widely, the helicopter could be seen slated on one side but retained its intact condition without any visible damages.
Following the incident, the crew boarded another flight as they jetted for a burial in the Nyatike area of Migori.
Meanwhile, the cause of the crash was yet to be established with police maintaining that investigations had since commenced to unravel the root cause of the incident.
The plane crash involving the CS comes 3 days after a mid-air collision which saw two aircraft crash at the Nairobi National Park.
Aircraft Accident Investigation Department revealed that one of the planes which belonged to the ninety-nine flying school had been involved in two other accidents before the fateful March 5 incident.
"Kenya Civil Aviation Authority wishes to confirm that an aircraft accident occurred at 10:05hrs involving a Cessna aircraft belonging to Ninety-Nines Flying School and a Dash 8 belonging to Safarilink Aviation Limited," KAA noted.
"Investigations to determine the cause of the accident are being carried out by the relevant authorities. We condole with the families, friends and relatives of the deceased," read a report by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Department.
