The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has announced traffic disruption along James Gichuru Road starting Thursday, March 14.

In a notice, the Authority noted that this was part of a routine maintenance exercise that will last until Sunday, March 17.

Heavy traffic jam is anticipated during the cited days. Motorists have been encouraged to explore alternative routes.

“We wish to notify the general public that there will be traffic disruption along James Gichuru Road from March 14 to March 17 during night hours,” Kenyans were warned.

KURA explained that a contractor had been hired to carry out repairs along the road hence the inconvenience.

The contractor will be working at night hours to minimise disruption.

“We urge Motorists using that route to exercise caution as we endeavour to transform urban mobility,” KURA stated.

James Gichuru Road is one of the busiest roads in the capital city and is majorly used by motorists seeking to access the Central Business District (CBD).

Additionally, it is widely used by motorists seeking to access affluent neighbourhoods of Westlands and Parklands.

KURA is the government entity that is mandated to develop roads within the capital.

Additionally, the Authority is responsible for managing, rehabilitating and maintaining national trunk roads in all urban areas within Kenya.

Roads in rural areas on the other hand are developed and maintained by the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA).

On the other hand, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is responsible for the development, rehabilitation, management and maintenance of all major highways in Kenya.
