The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Management on Thursday, March 14, announced that it had forgiven singer Embarambamba after he complied with the board's demands.

The announcement was made after the film board met with the controversial, self-proclaimed gospel singer at KFCB’s offices located at Uchumi House in Nairobi.

Embarambamba arrived at the board's offices in the company of his lawyer Danstan Omari, alongside other members of the lawyer's legal team.

“It is worth noting that  Embarambamba through his legal team responded to the Demand Notice by requesting an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) in line with Article 159 of the Constitution of Kenya,” KFCB noted.

“The Board can confirm that the artist has since deleted hundreds of indecent music videos on his YouTube channel.”

According to KFCB, Embarambamba’s plea for forgiveness was granted after he issued a public apology for his non-compliance.

Embarambamba further committed to creating, distributing and exhibiting content that conforms to Kenya's culture, moral values and national aspirations. The agency required the artist to avoid inappropriate content for minors and vulnerable adults.

"As a result of Embarambamba's commitment, it was agreed that the artist will comply with the remaining areas of the Demand Notice, in line with the filming and classification requirements," read part of a statement by KFCB.

Meanwhile, the board noted Embarambamba’s counterpart, William Getumbe would be arraigned in court on March 15 after he defied the orders.

On February 28, KFCB ordered Embarambamba and William Gutembe to pull down all their indecent videos from all streaming platforms.

According to KFCB, failure to comply would result in legal action per the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.

“A demand letter has been issued to Embrambamba and Getumbe to remove any inappropriate content from their various platforms," read part of the letter.
