A renowned Nairobi DJ was on Saturday, March 23, arrested for the alleged assault and murder of a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detective.
According to reports, 3 of the DJ's associates were also arrested alongside the entertainer in connection with the murder.
Similarly, 3 other officers were also arrested and detained at Kabete Police Station.
The deceased was allegedly assaulted by the DJ and his accomplices after a minor accident earlier.
It is claimed that the DJ and his entourage attacked the law enforcement officer after he accidentally scratched the DJ's vehicle.
The alleged assault occurred near the Kikuyu Police Station at an entertainment joint in the wee hours of the morning.
Following the episode, as narrated by the deceased relatives, the officer started complaining of abdominal pain and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
His body was taken to a private funeral home in Mbagathi as the family awaited the autopsy results.
Meanwhile, the medical report showed that the officer died of severe blunt abdominal trauma.
After the DJ and his associates were arrested on Saturday night, they were booked and detained at the Kabete Police Station. Police have begun investigations to establish the finer details of the incident as they seek to build a case.
Additionally, police are looking for other suspects who were involved in the incident. So far they have asked eyewitnesses to report any information about what might have happened.
Cases of police officers and detectives being killed in mysterious instances have been on the rise across the country.
A police officer was killed in a hit-and-run incident along the Brookside area in Kieni, Nyeri County last week. The officer was among a team manning the weighbridge.
Per a police OB, the team spotted a lorry approaching the weighbridge and directed the driver to stop. However, the driver defied the orders and drove past the station.
This led to a speed chase between the officers and the lorry driver. The officers, responding to the incident, waylaid the lorry and blocked the road.
Unfortunately, the driver failed to stop, ran over one of the officers and rammed into the vehicle before driving off. The officer died on the spot.
Police have since began investigations into the incident.
