Questions have been raised as a company located along Mombasa Road is counting losses when its fleet of trucks and warehouses were submerged in floods.

The bakery’s fleet of delivery trucks packed outside the warehouses was submerged amidst the debris of what is said to be sewer water.

In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, more than 6 vehicles were seen parked at various spots in the compound and almost fully covered by floods.

This was after the heavy downpour that rocked the city on Sunday, March 24, night and paralysed the activities in the city.

The factory has yet to release a statement on the incident or disclose the value of the property destroyed in the incident.

However, residents are questioning the building of the factories in the area stating that it was reclaimed swampy land.

“The owners of this particular godown blocked the original waterways that were acting as drainage, stated one of the residents.

Additionally, the residents have questioned the issuing of the permits to build godowns in the area noting that there might be foul play involved.

The incident is one of the many that occurred after the heavy rains which are descending on the city.

On Sunday evening, traffic was paralysed along major roads and estates owing to floods.

Additionally, five people are said to have lost their lives including a police officer attached at the Kamukunji Police Station.

The officer is said to have been rescuing business people and a child trapped at the Country Bus station where he caved into a manhole.

However, the four individuals and other police officers involved in the rescue escaped unscathed.
