According to Major Bonna Anthony, the inspector of police in Kapoeta South County, who spoke to Radio Tamazuj, a South Sudanese media outlet, the accident occurred on Sunday evening.

He added that it is believed that the two were employees of a telecommunication company. Anthony revealed that both the vehicle and motorcycle were speeding before they lost control and collided.

'The three girls died on the spot and the rider died after being taken to the hospital. All the six bodies, three women and three men are in the mortuary," he confirmed.

Juma Justin, the Executive Director of Kapoeta South County, also commented on the accident but denied claims that the mob killed the two foreigners. He emphasised that the two died in the accident.

He remarked that it was unfortunate to lose six individuals at a go. He added that this accident was the first of its kind in Kapoeta town.

"These foreign drivers sometimes do not know the direction and instead of using the right side, they drive on the left because our traffic law differs from that of Kenya and this is the cause of this accident," added Juma Justin, the executive director of Kapoeta South County.

Another official who confirmed the accident was Longoria Jeff, a South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) legislator who cautioned motorists against speeding. He also condemned mob justice urging locals not to take the law into their own hands.

He advised motorists to be careful to prevent such accidents adding it was a great loss to South Sudan and neighbouring countries.
