Police in Bumula in Bungoma County have launched investigations after Lunao Primary School headteacher Fred Lunani was found dead and tied up in blankets inside his house on Wednesday, April 3.

Expressing their shock, the victim’s family questioned the circumstances surrounding his death, linking it to a suspected love triangle, after a woman found in the house was arrested.

According to the deceased's wife, she found her husband’s lifeless body tied up on both the hands and the legs, and covered in blankets inside his house.

“I’m mourning my husband’s death. I found him tied up like a thief, a whole headteacher,” the wife lamented amid tears.

The Kenya National Union of Teachers(KNUT) Secretary General in Mumias East, Ephrahim Mukamani, has condemned the act, asking the police to expedite the investigations to ascertain the details surrounding the headteacher’s murder.

Former Bumula Member of Parliament (MP) Maurice Makhamu described the headteacher as a peaceful man who was involved in development projects in the area.

“The police need to start their investigations at the family level. The deceased was a peaceful man, focused on development and helping people,” former Bumula MP Maurice Makhamu noted.

In the wake of family-related murders, a woman was on Wednesday arrested after stabbing and murdering her husband Vincent Kiprotich with a machete.

Kiprotich, attached to the Special Operation Group (SOG) at Wargadud in Mandera County, was on leave to spend time with his family.

The victim's brother found the officer's lifeless body lying on the floor inside their house, with deep stab wounds.

Kiprotich succumbed to the injuries sustained while receiving treatment at a local hospital in Eldama Ravine. The doctors cited excessive blood loss as the leading cause of death.

The wife, who is the main suspect, was arrested at a hideout kilometres from the crime scene, pending investigations into the incident.
