The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) on Wednesday, April 3, issued a 24-hour notice for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) to apply for tertiary courses.

This majorly targeted 2023 KCSE students who are seeking to apply for slots in different universities and colleges.

KUCCPS revealed that the application portal would be closed on Thursday, shutting them out from chances to pursue higher education.

It was also announced that the KUCCPS portal offers partial accessibility to students who sat for their KCSE exam between 2000 and 2022.

According to KUCCPS, these students will be eligible to apply for diplomas, certificates and artisanal courses.

“The application portal closes tomorrow, April 4, 2024. Log in to students.kuccps.net and apply for degree, diploma or certificate and artisan courses,” KUCCPS announced.

Notably, the degree courses are limited to students who scored C+ and above in their 2023 KCSE exams.

Students who scored a C (plain) and C- (minus) qualify for select diploma courses.

Certificate courses are offered at colleges, polytechnics and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) for students who scored D (plain) and D- (minus).

The rest of the students are eligible to apply through KUCCPS artisanal courses from different TVET institutions.

Students who scored C+ and above in other years except 2023 still qualify for degree courses but must apply directly at their university of choice.

Under this scheme, the students will not be eligible for government scholarships but can still apply for the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) loan.
