Protests erupted in Cheptiret Eldoret on Saturday, April 6, as one family demanded the release of their abducted kin.

Enos Lagat, the man in question is stated to have been abducted on Saturday, March 30 in Lang’ata by unknown assailants.

Residents demanded the release of Lagat, alleging that the government had a hand in his abduction.

Accompanied by local area activists, the family threatened to block a major highway on Wednesday in protest if the government failed to issue an update on their kin’s whereabouts.

“We would like to request that if it is the DCI who have this man, they should release him within the shortest time possible because that is a violation of rights,” explained activist Kimutai Kirui.

Further, the family has appealed to the government to look into his release explaining that he was the breadwinner for his family.

CCTV footage of the night of the abduction reveals that Lagat was walking in Lang’ata near a supermarket when a man was spotted trailing him.

A few moments later at around 11:21 pm, a white vehicle approached, and two men alighted and bundled him into the car.

Since the incident occurred, the abducted man's whereabouts remain a mystery with no leads or information forthcoming on how the family can locate the man.

The case continues to raise eyebrows in the area with those who know him stating that he was connected to high-profile individuals.

However, the motive for the abduction is yet to be known.

In a separate case of mysterious abduction, a former Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) student Victor Kibet who had been missing was found alive after he reached out to his father.

Kibet had been reported missing since March 18, when he was said to be whisked away by people who claimed to be police officers while at an entertainment joint.
