Super Metro Matatu Sacco on Monday, April 15, announced free rides through one of its buses bought by content creator Timothy Kimani popularly known as Njugush.

In a post to its customers, the Sacco remarked that the bus branded Tugi which will be plying the Nairobi-Kitengela route would offer free rides on its debut into transport operations.

This came a day after Njugush offered a similar free ride during the matatu's first trip to the Central Business District.

Super Metro is one of the most popular Saccos in the Nairobi Metropolitan Area where loyal customers queue for hours waiting for the minibuses.

The Sacco further offers faster access to Nairobi City by using the Nairobi Expressway where passengers pay extra fare for the privilege.

The Sacco did not indicate how many free rides Tugi would offer to its customers.

Passengers will save between Ksh80 and Ksh120 depending on the time of boarding.

Njugush had earlier revealed that he had sold an SUV so as to be able to join the matatu industry.

Speaking during the unveiling of the minibus, the content creator revealed that he had named the vehicle after his firstborn son Tugi.

According to the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA),every matatu plying on Kenyan roads must belong to a Sacco and as such, Njugush sought Super Metro which is the most popular in Nairobi.

According to NTSA rules, every Sacco has a specific route and as such, if your matatu belongs to a particular route, going to a different Sacco would be contravening the law.

Additionally, choosing a Sacco is one of the requirements before being handed an operating licence.
