Angry Youth Storm City Hall Demand Removal of Health Executive

Drama erupted on Thursday at City Hall after a group of youth stormed the office of Nairobi Health Executive Dr Bernard Muia.

Led by their leader, Jonah Onyango, the angry youth demanded that Dr Muia be ejected from the post claiming that the executive had failed in executing his mandate.

Onyango accused Dr Muia of misconduct, incompetence and micromanaging the health department.

He alleged that Dr Muia had failed to reserve 30 percent of tenders to the youth, women and persons with disability as stipulated in the Constitution.

The youth leader added that the Executive had also overstepped his mandate by transferring staff across the city and demanded that he be sacked by Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero.

Dr Muia was however not in the office during the incident and refuted the claims brought forward against him by the group.

He denied any wrong doing and dismissed the groups' calls to quit, adding that he would not be intimidated.

The health executive vowed not cow into pressure from groups on how to execute his duties in the county.
