Armed Youth Disrupt Raila's Meeting in Turkana

Chaos erupted in ODM leader Raila Odinga's rally in Turkana East on Friday where he had gone on a voter mobilisation drive.

Armed youth are said to have stormed the meeting and fired shots in the air throwing the forum into limbo.

According to Turkana Governor Josephat Nanok, the suspected goons had been hired by a local MP.

“We have been told that one MP incited youths to come our meeting and disrupt it. We did not even have a chance to address the rally as stones were thrown at us. We also heard gunshots and we left to our next point which was Lokichar,” Mr Nanok said.

The Governor added, “The MP told some of the youths to carry stones and firearms to our rally and target Raila Odinga."

Speaking after the incident, Odinga said it was wrong for leaders to incite youth.
