Auma Obama Criticizes Radio Jambo Presenter Gidi Gidi Over Misrepresentation of Her Interview

Former US President Barack Obama’s sister, Dr. Auma Obama, on Saturday, took to her twitter account where she criticized a popular radio journalist over alleged misrepresentation of an interview she had granted.

According to Auma, she had accompanied her colleague who was having an interview with Radio Jambo’s morning show hosted by Gidi Gidi.

The interview focused on what local organizations, including Sauti Kuu which is run by Auma, are doing to help young people and children in Kenya.

It was during the lengthy interview that she joked about what Barack had been up to during his retirement.

The long interview was, however, shared on social media platforms with the title, ‘Auma Obama tells Gidi what former President Obama is doing in his retirement'.

“In ONE passing sentence, I joked about what I THINK my brother is doing post-presidency. Here I see the pitch for the whole interview reduced to how I gave Gidi Gidi an inside take on what Obama is up to now….What a cheap way to sell a program Gidi…,” Auma complained in a statement on her Twitter account.

The complaint prompted Gidi to issue an apology, clarifying that there had been a miscommunication from the digital team at Radio Jambo.

Hi Dr @AumaObama have noted with concern the article by our digital team, it doesnt represent what we talked about, will correct it So Sorry
