'Bungoma James Bond' to Get Chopper Ride to Destination of Choice

A wealthy Kenyan businessman-cum-politician has promised to fly the Bungoma man who clung on a flying helicopter to any destination of his choice.

Moses Nandalwe said that the rare act by Saleh Wanjala - now nicknamed 'Bungoma James Bond' -   would attract tourists in the County and it was important for him to get the relevant exposure.

"The man is our hero, he will attract tourists who want to see the 'Bungoma James Bond', let's expose him now he did it to expose himself to the outside world, he can star in international movies if exposed well," Nandalwe was quoted by the Standard.

The self-proclaimed millionaire also pleaded with the County's commissioner Mohamed Maalim to drop charges against Mr Wanjala stating: "It is against the fundamental rights of an individual to handcuff any citizen while on a sick bed. Moreover, Saleh has expressed himself and said that his state of mind was not sober leave alone being under the influence of busaa”.

Last week, the 41-year-old man, who is a boda-boda rider, clung on a chopper's skid as it lifted from the Bungoma Posta grounds, where a crowd had gathered to view the body of the slain businessman Jacob Juma.

Mr Wanjala, who was also covered by international media, suffered injuries to his hip joint, elbow and eyebrow. He was arrested and chained to his hospital bed for endangering his life.

He was greatly criticised for the foolish act with a section of the public branding him 'James Bond' while others referred to him as 'Spiderman'.
