Chambers Global Recognises Oraro and Company Advocates as One of the Best Law Firm Globally

A top Kenyan Law firm has been recognised internationally as one of the best companies in conflict resolution.

According to the latest report by Chambers Global released on March 16, Oraro & Company Advocates was voted as one of the best legal firms globally.

“Litigation is a very strong area for Oraro & Company. They are very knowledgeable and well respected in this field,” read part of the report.

The report also named veteran Nairobi Lawyer George Oraro as a Band 1 disputes lawyer with experience at national, regional and international levels with the directory terming him an excellent litigator.

Oraro represented Raila during the 2013 Presidential election petition where the Opposition leader was challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory. The Veteran advocate was leading a team of 20 lawyers who were defending the then CORD coalition leader.

Chambers Global also recognised three of the firm’s lawyers - Chacha Odera, Walter Amoko and Georgina Ogalo Omondi.

Oraro’s counterpart Mr Odera, was ranked as a Band 2 lawyer in both Employment and Dispute Resolution. He had also been cited for more than a decade by Chambers Global as a dispute resolution expert.

Mr Amoko was ranked in two categories - Employment (Band 2) and Dispute Resolution (Band 3).

Oraro and Company Advocates was also for the first time recognised as a leading company in Employment and ranked as a Band 2 firm with Chambers Global acknowledging the work of one of its young and upcoming female lawyers, Ms Omondi.

“Practice in Employment and Labour Relations has grown steadily over the past couple of years and I endeavour to provide continued legal support to our clients who come from several sectors including aviation, banking and insurance and further help to build jurisprudence in this area,” Ms Omondi remarked.

The accolades come barely a week after the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) and the Kenyan Bar’s premier professional association inducted George Oraro into its Roll of Honour.

In 2015, the Republic of Lithuania set up its East Africa consulate in Kenya, and appointed Lawyer Oraro as its first consul for the region.
