CORD Bashed After IEBC Rescues Wetangula

The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) on Tuesday came under sharp criticism from Kenyans after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ruled that there was no sufficient evidence to link Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to voter bribery.

The Opposition applauded IEBC for the ruling, a move that made a section of Kenyans accuse CORD of double standards citing the countless times they had accused IEBC of being influenced by external forces.

CORD Principal Raila Odinga was also put on the spot to affirm that the Commission was credible despite the conflict that arose in 2013, when IEBC announced President Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner.

The Opposition has been on the headlines demanding for the disbandment of the commission, claiming the Electoral body cannot be trusted to conduct a free and fair Election in 2017.

In the IEBC's ruling on Tuesday, Commissioner Mohammed Alawi stated: "The IEBC found no proof and justification to delete Wetangula's name from the voters register".

Here are the reactions:

If CORD really has no faith in how IEBC conducts its affairs, they shud have as well rejected the final verdict of Wetangula's case.

According to CORD, any decision in their favor is the most outstanding judgement by IEBC. Take a minute n think if they ruled otherwise.

Now that the @IEBCKenya ruling favors our brother's in the CORD Coalition, they too must respect it's independence and credibility. #IEBC
