A senior officer in the Machakos County Government has tendered his resignation letter after he felt targetted in a Facebook post by Governor Alfred Mutua.
In the post titled: Interdiction And Suspension Of Officers Unable To Undertake Assigned Tasks Properly, Mr Mutua released a statement announcing that he had fired two chief officers for supposedly being lazy and failing to meet deadlines.
Learning of his dismissal through social media, Jeremiah Muia said that he could no longer work for the County Government after knowing the Governor's position regarding him.
“I learnt through social media, of your most recent pronouncement touching on my person. After a deep reflection, I have realised that I can't guarantee enough morale to continue serving effectively in the same capacity,” Muia's letter read in part.
Mr Muia had been suspended for three months together with his counterpart Jonathan Muthama who was to stay out of office for two months.
The county boss' post listed 36 other officers in the Water Ministry who were sent home for failing to offer efficient services to the residents.
