David Makali Kicked Out of Ababu Namwamba's Labour Party for Supporting Raila Odinga

Former Citizen TV journalist David Makali has been kicked out of the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) after he asked the party members to work with the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Makali, who has been serving as the Secretary-General in the Ababu Namwaba-led party, angered party delegates after he revealed that he had been holding talks with NASA co-principal Raila Odinga with a view of having LPK join the Opposition.

Makali further stated that the ODM leader had indicated willingness to forgive Namwamba and accept his newfound LPK family.

The members of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) were, however, not pleased with the revelation given that most of them have been leaning towards Jubilee and wanted to endorse President Uhuru Kenyatta for a second term.

"A majority of NEC members are inclined to Jubilee; it's only Makali who has been pushing the party to work with NASA," Youth Treasurer Ignatius Nyukuri stated.

The angry LPK delegates decided to fire Makali, even alleging that he had failed to popularise the party in his home county.

The current Organising Secretary Peter ole Musei will now fill in Makali’s shoes as acting Secretary-General.

The veteran journalist-turned-politician is currently eyeing the Bungoma Senator’s seat.
